Our voter ambassador program starts with a brief (75 minute) online training for anyone who wants to learn more about voter protection and the fight for voting rights.
Whether you live in Tennessee, are concerned about the latest legislative attacks on democracy, or just want to learn more about the history of voting rights in the country, our Voter Ambassador Program will help you get there.
Poll Observers serve inside polling locations monitoring the election process directly. Observers work with election officials to resolve issues and report matters up to our team of lawyers when needed.

Everything is online — no travel required!
Our training sessions are conducted in real time by our Director of Training so you will need to be available for your entire session, but we offer several sessions each month, at different times / dates, to accommodate the widest number of schedules possible.

We’ve kept our training program free of charge and have trained 263 Voter Ambassadors—and counting, in the past year thanks to the generosity of people like you.
Yes. We require all of our poll observers to complete our 1 hour mandatory training before scheduling a shift. Absolutely no exceptions.
We hold Poll Observer trainings all throughout the year, and at various times, days, etc. And, we will be dramatically ramping up our training schedule as we get closer and closer to the Election to make sure we have trained poll observers at each and every TN polling station in 2022.
We offer open enrollment for our Voter Ambassador Training, here. Once you’ve RSVPed to a specific session, you’re well on your way to becoming a fully trained Voter Ambassador.
Not able to make any of the current sessions? Make sure to check back frequently. We update our events registration at least once a month, and plan on adding even more frequent training sessions closer to Election Day.
Taken our training before?
Many of our alumni take our Voter Ambassador Training once every year to arm themselves with the most recent changes to voter access and TN law, and to keep abreast of the newest ways to stay engaged.

Remember, poll observing training is mandatory. Even if you’re an alumni to our program and have volunteered with us before, for the 2022 election cycle, we do ask that you register and attend our poll observer training. Tennessee Election Laws have changed since the 2020 election, and we’ll be reviewing new need-to-know information during our next sessions.
Not able to make any current session? You can email us here to let us know; we’re committed to staffing poll observers at every polling station on all three Tennessee Election Days this year. And be sure to check our Events Page frequently. To gear up for the upcoming Election Cycle, we’ll be ramping up our Poll Observing Program and releasing more and more new sessions in the months to come.
No, but we hope you attend! Our annual Swearing-In ceremony is a perk we offer our Poll Observer volunteers, but isn’t a mandatory step for election volunteers. Your official status as a poll observer is determined by appointment from your county election commission. Once you’ve competed our training, and signed up for a few poll observer shifts, we help navigate the appointment process for you, and within a few weeks you'll receive your official appointent letter from your county election commission.
To qualify as a poll observer for an of the Tennessee elections, you must meet the following criteria:
- Are you over the age of 18?
- Are you an official resident of Tennessee?
- Are you registered to vote?

At this time, our Poll Observer Training is reserved just for those who meet the qualifications listed above.*
*If you’re under 18 or live out of state, we’d love to have you join our Voter Ambassador Program.
All Organize Tennessee poll observers have been trained and certified to serve as election observers. As such, we require that all of our poll observers fulfill the following:
- Commit to volunteering for two 6-hour poll observing shitfs in the 2022 election
- Attend our MANDATORY Poll Observation Training

Yes! While Poll Observer Training is reserved exclusively for residents of Tennessee, our Voter Ambassador Program is open to everyone and anyone, no matter your zipcode, age, or political affinity.
The fight for voter protection is happening all across the U.S. At Organize Tennessee, we believe we need as many voter ambassadors on the ground as possible to help. While our Voter Ambassador Program does include a Tennessee legal focus, it’s designed for anyone interested in learning more about voter protection.
